For and against - Anna Terrones

Speaking more than one language has many practical benefits in an increasingly globalized world, especially English. But despite that, we can find some disadvantages of being bilingual.

To begin with, a clear advantage of being bile (in this case knowing your mother tongue like English equally) is that English has become a tool that allows communication with people from all countries and cultures. In addition, knowing more than one language has become a professional and cognitive advantage that facilitates access to knowledge of all kinds.

On the other hand, a clear disadvantage of being bilingual is that when studying or learning both languages you may not perfect any of them. This means that in territories where two languages are not spoken, it involves cultural fragmentation.

In conclusion, being bilingual gives you better and worse things but I think we should all know more than one language but there is always one that stands out above the others. We have a long life to learn and discover new things so there is no hurry to learn new languages.
