Dialogue – Paula Díaz Salcedo
OPTION 2
Fernanda and Carol, two teachers, are discussing about which could be
the impact of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) as a new school
subject.
Fernanda: Increasingly, the work of the future is more dependent of technology.
We must teach our kids to learn skills about how to manage Information and
Communication Technology or they won’t have opportunities to work.
Carol: I couldn’t agree more with you. At these days, boys and girls born
with a mobile telephone on their hands. Ten years ago, this wasn’t expectable. We
have to consider that this new generations probably know better and more about
technology, this means that teachers should pass a training. Although, this
would be expensive and some teachers won’t agree with the idea.
Fernanda: Absolutely, but we should consider that ICT, would be a primary
school subject, we would be teaching basic, minimal concepts about informatics.
So, it has to be easily comprehensible for us. I don’t see any problem about
this. It’s a necessary thing.
Carol: Exactly. I cannot wait to learn new things and teach useful concepts
for the kids.
Fernanda: Me neither. It’s beautiful and I’m grateful to be part of the
evolution of education.
