DIALOGUE - Sergio López Soto

Natalie and Christian, two teachers, are talking in the teachers’ room while they are preparing their next lesson at their free time.
Christian: Have you heard that the director wants to add a new subject, Information and Communication Technology, for following year? That’s insane! Teaching teenagers how to use new technologies is very dangerous, they could use those technologies to do bad things. Don’t you think?
Natalie: I don’t agree with you at all! You should trust more your students; they are the future. The more things they learn, the better it is for everyone. So, I think that teaching ICT would be a great improvement for the schools and for the students, of course. We all have benefits.
Christian: Really? Don’t you see how dangerous it is? In addition, the school will have to spend a lot of money in order to buy computers, keyboards and all that stuff. I think they should use all that money to do important things, like increasing our salaries, we deserve it.
Natalie: Wow, your way of thinking is quite selfish. Did you know that it is said that soon most of the jobs will be related to technology? So, ICT is very important in any school. I think it’s necessary that the students know how to use new technologies to be able to apply it in their jobs.
Christian: Well, I don’t want to discuss more about it, and I have class in five minutes.
Natalie: Okay, see you next Monday then.
